Kaycie Satterfield's Debut Album "Rosie" Is Out Now!

Earth Libraries is proud to present Kaycie Satterfield's debut, self-produced album, "Rosie" - out now wherever you get your music!
Kaycie Satterfield leans into the endless, prickly change inherent in life. So when the guitarist and singer-songwriter broke her wrist in 2020 and was entirely unable to play her instrument for months, she had no choice but to embrace change. “Guitar is my main source of continuity,” she says. “So I had to learn how to think outside of my current conventions and to work with limitations.” On one hand, she needed to figure out how to write and play with one hand tied behind her back. But the fact that around the same time she had to go through four moves and a breakup meant she'd have to make peace with far more drastic change. And rather than be stuck in dated patterns and stories, Satterfield was newly determined to tell her own story her own way. The resulting album, Rosie, is a glistening slice of indie rock that bolsters Satterfield’s impeccable songwriting with a new perspective and rich, synth-driven production.
Further reflecting on Rosie, Satterfield has this to say:
"Rosie is a dog. Rosie is my dog. Rosie is an album. Rosie is a celebration of the passage of time.
Being queer is Salvador Dali’s melting timepiece. Being queer is quantum physics, not being able to measure a particle’s speed and location at the same time.
Being queer is an internal power struggle. It’s violence, and it’s passion.
Being queer is a beta in a fish bowl looking out at the ocean. Sometimes. Holding yourself, holding others hostage in your own perceptions. I wonder sometimes, if anyone feels like they’ve closed the disconnect between who they are and who people think they are and who they’d like to be.
It looks so cut and dry for some people, and in many ways it is; go to school, get the job, get married, buy the house, get the dog, have the kids.
Being queer is a wild immersive adventure, one in which time does not really exist and nothing is linear. And you choose to either sink, or swim. You choose to either lean into the chaos, or let it consume you. You can either try your damndest to conform to timelines and codes that weren’t made for you, or you can drink the juice of every last strange, sweaty, loud, blurry, delicious moment of this confusing existence."
