Hot Wheels' Debut LP "Sun Blonde" is Out Now!!

Earth Libraries proudly presents Hot Wheels’ debut album, Sun Blonde - out now on all platforms and available on CD and LP.

Hot Wheels, the project by LA-based painter and musician, Dan Bruinooge blends 1960s instrumental surf rock with ambient music, fusing influences from Link Wray to Brian Eno. He grew up in North Jersey, studied painting and music at CalArts and has played with bands such as Golden Daze, Palmbomen, and Vinyl Williams.

Hot Wheels’ debut LP, Sun Blonde showcases Bruinooge’s elements of 1960s instrumental surf and hot rod music, combining them with ambient and impressionistic styles to transform the genre from energetic aggression and showmanship to one of introspection and sensitivity. It symbolizes his own spiritual quest and finding oneself by means of traveling west. Bruinooge is inspired by the climate and culture of the region, in how they can be both healing and oppressive. Its excess manifests in relentless traffic, drawn out heat waves, the annual fire season which tints the sky to blood orange, etc. He wanted the album to be a suitable pair for driving in deadlock traffic with the sun blaring in your face; to dwell and to bliss out in its beauty, complexity and melancholia.
